Son arrested for hacking father to death

Gauteng – A 24-year-old Mamelodi East man has been arrested for murder after he allegedly used a spade to hack his father to death.

The man was arrested on Thursday, police spokesperson Michael Mbewe said in a statement.
"It is alleged the deceased overheard the [man] and his mother arguing inside the house, when he attempted to intervene to calm the situation.
"The [man] allegedly became more angered and grabbed a spade and hacked his father to death. The deceased was rushed to a local hospital."
